Frequently Asked Questions
-
The "fit" is a deeply personal choice. The best way to know is to experience a conversation together. In our consultation or initial session, I encourage you to pay attention to how you feel: Do you feel heard? Does my style resonate with you?
If it doesn’t feel like the right match, that is completely okay – I am happy to help you find a therapist who might be a better fit for your specific needs.
-
Think of the consultation as a low-pressure conversation to see how we click. I’ll ask what is bringing you to therapy now and what you’re hoping to change. You’ll get a sense of my approach, and we can discuss any questions you have. It’s a chance for us both to decide if we can do good work together.
-
I recommend meeting weekly, especially as we begin. This frequency helps us build momentum, establish trust, and dive deeper into the work. Once you feel you’ve made significant progress and we move into a "maintenance" phase, we can discuss transitioning to bi-weekly sessions.
-
Therapy is a highly individual process. Some clients find that 3-6 months of weekly sessions provides the tools they need to navigate a specific transition, while others choose to stay longer to do deeper work on long-standing patterns. We will check in regularly to ensure the work remains meaningful to you.

Consistency is key to the therapeutic process, but I understand that life happens. I require 48 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice will incur a late fee. I am always open to discussing exceptions for emergencies.

By remaining out-of-network, I am able to focus on a smaller caseload. This allows me to provide more thoughtful, individualized care for every client I see. It also gives me the necessary time to stay current with research and pursue specialized training, ensuring my clients receive a high quality of support.
-
Most likely, yes. Many of my clients receive reimbursement for a significant portion of my fee through their out-of-network benefits. You can find more details on how to check your benefits here. I am also happy to guide you through this process during our consultation.
-
Yes. I provide therapy in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. Whether you prefer to conduct our sessions entirely in one language or move fluidly between them to find the right words for a specific feeling, I am here to support that.
